Indoor air sensor "AirAgent"
fighting COVID-19 with traffic light function
CO2 and aerosols and the risk of spreading viruses (currently e.g. COVID-19):
The indoor COVID-19 infection risk is currently being discussed worldwide. The finest droplets (aerosols) that arise when you exhale are suspected to be likely carriers of viruses.
Aerosols float in the air for a long time and can spread widely.
If you inhale these aerosols in sufficiently large quantities, there is a possibility of a COVID-19 infection.
In contrast to CO2, aerosols can only be measured with a comparatively large and complex effort.
However, from the easily ascertainable CO2 content in the air, one can in principle also infer the aerosol content in the air, since both arise during the same process, namely when exhaling.
Hence, the CO2 content of the air can also be used as an indicator of the content of aerosols in closed rooms.
A low CO2 content then also means a low risk of infection by viruses that are transported in aerosols.
When is the right time to start ventilation?
So ventilation helps, but without a suitable concentration measurement, the perception of the CO2 content of the air is purely subjective, since CO2 is colorless and odorless, and, thus, it can happen that too much or too little is ventilated, because the quality of the actual room air and the compliance with sensible limit values is usually not known. Correct ventilation has an influence on the ability to concentrate and also on heating costs.
The EMPO-NI indoor air sensor measures :
-
the room temperature about every 2 seconds,
-
the relative humidity as well as
-
the CO2 content of the air
and shows all values clearly on the LC-Display. In addition, the CO2 content of the air is also indicated through the traffic light function and readable from distance:
-
Illuminated LEDs with green colour indicate a "feel well level" of CO2 content below 1000ppm,
-
with the "yellow" LEDs turned on the concentration above up to 1500ppm is visualized
-
and beyond that with red colour.
This means that a good indoor climate is no longer left to subjective perception, but is displayed transparently.
Functionality of the "AIR AGENT" room air sensor
-
The "AirAgent " indoor air sensor uses laser-trimmed Swiss made precision sensors.
-
The 2-channel infrared measurement method has the clear advantage over simpler methods and chemical sensors that it ages less and can calibrate itself over the entire service life, since the second channel is used for such a reference measurement and the CO2 sensor can thus constantly adjust itself.
With this complex 2-channel method, incorrect measurements and undesired sensitivity and accuracy drifts are avoided and a high level of practicality with an imputed service life of more than 15 years is achieved.
Scope of delivery and labeling
The "AirAgent" indoor air sensor has compact dimensions of 90mm x 90mm and is about 32mm high.
The robust aluminum housing has an option for simple wall mounting or an installation on an optionally available stand.
The scope of delivery includes a plug-in power supply unit 12V / 0.5A with a standard round hollow plug 2.1mm / 5.5mm.
The supply input is protected against polarity reversal, the "AirAgent" room air sensor complies with valid safety and EMC guidelines and is CE marked.
